DüRT: Motocross Championship Revives Classic PlayStation-Era Racing With Demo on Steam

DüRT: Motocross Championship, an upcoming motocross game developed entirely by solo creator sourpickledev, aims to recreate the feel of classic PlayStation-era racers while introducing modern improvements. Players can already try the experience through a free playable demo on Steam.

Inspired by games such as Championship Motocross, Motocross Mania and Sled Storm, DüRT: Motocross Championship embraces a nostalgic visual style built around chunky low-poly models, warped textures, dithered skies and stylized 12-frame rider animations. The retro presentation is complemented by a custom chase camera that dynamically adjusts its field of view based on speed, mimicking the look and feel of racing games from the original PlayStation generation.

Despite its nostalgic appearance, the gameplay focuses on responsive arcade handling. Players must master speed-sensitive steering, controlled drifting, rear-brake slides and precise mid-air movement while performing tricks such as Supermans, no-handers and whips. Poorly timed landings can quickly result in spectacular crashes, rewarding skillful riding over button mashing.

The full game will feature a championship mode spanning both motocross and supercross events across a variety of terrain types, including packed dirt, deep mud, gravel and asphalt. Players will also have access to multiple bikes and riders inspired by late-1990s racing games, alongside local split-screen multiplayer, online leaderboards and Steam achievements.
