With its release just a few weeks away, the highly Hell is Us has unveiled a new gameplay video. This video focuses on the game’s unique dungeon system and includes commentary from Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, the creative and art director. Hell is Us is an ambitious project from Rogue Factor, set to launch on September 4, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).

Each dungeon in Hell is Us is unique, with its own atmosphere, challenges, and meaning. They require players to use various skills, such as carefully observing their surroundings, using logic to solve puzzles, and most importantly, fighting the many enemies that stand in their way. What’s more, each dungeon ends with an intense final battle, leading to big discoveries that shed light on the complicated past of this remote part of the world.

Jacques-Belletête explained the philosophy behind the dungeons, calling it “player-plattering.” He said: “Through this concept, we want players to rediscover the pleasure of exploring on their own, without being hand-held. Within the deep and mysterious confines of each dungeon, the players must pay attention to their environment in order to orient themselves and figure out how to overcome the many obstacles they face. Each dungeon has its own distinct flavour and memorable moments, culminating in a real sense of achievement once completed.”

Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure game that combines close-up combat, exploration, and a compelling story. The game encourages you to follow your instincts rather than relying on on-screen markers. This design aims to bring it back to the original spirit of adventure games, promoting careful thought and observation by removing all kinds of intrusive help.
