HYPERWIRED Launches Next Month With a Unique Twist on Space Shooters

If you enjoy independent indie game coverage, consider supporting Indie-Games.eu on Patreon. It helps keep the site independent.

Launching on July 2 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, HYPERWIRED combines classic pixel-art space combat with a rather unusual mechanic: plugging your ship directly into energy sockets scattered throughout each level.

The concept sounds simple, but it creates an interesting risk-and-reward system. Connecting to these sockets allows you to recharge energy and progress through sectors, but doing so also limits your movement, forcing you to carefully balance survival, positioning, and firepower.

Beyond its unique hook, you will travel through procedurally generated galaxies, discover upgrades, unlock new ships, and experiment with hundreds of possible weapon combinations. According to the developers, more than 250 bullet modifier combinations and over 40 upgrades can dramatically change how each run plays out.

The game also features a rechargeable slow-motion system, rescueable pilots who can join your growing fleet, and a series of giant boss encounters guarding each galaxy.

HYPERWIRED demo is also part of the Steam Next Fest, which you can play here.
