Hooded Horse, the publisher of the medieval city-builder and strategy game Manor Lords, has hinted at the possibility of exploring new settings in the future. After the game’s highly praised Early Access release last year, fans are eagerly anticipating what might come next for the title.

Joe Robinson, Communications Director at Hooded Horse, revealed in an interview on the VideoGamer Podcast that lead developer Grzegorz Styczeń has been contemplating expanding Manor Lords beyond its current medieval German setting. While the focus during Early Access will remain on the original environment, Robinson shared that “Greg has mused about the idea of exploring other time periods and cultures, especially when fans ask about potential expansions.”

“He’s been talking about how, yeah, this or that time period could be interesting to explore at some point,” Robinson said. Fans have already suggested intriguing possibilities, including ancient Rome and feudal Japan, which they believe would fit perfectly with the game’s detailed mechanics.

One of Manor Lords’ most standout qualities is its polished gameplay. Robinson explained that Greg prefers to gather and fix problems in larger batches, rather than releasing a constant stream of quick patches. This approach prioritizes stability and refinement over rushing fixes, ensuring a better experience for players. “Greg’s philosophy has always been to polish the game as much as possible,” Robinson stated.

Despite a significant drop in player count since the Early Access launch, when the game peaked at over 173,000 players nine months ago, Manor Lords still maintains a dedicated community of over 10,000 active players. Robinson shared that player feedback plays a crucial role in shaping the game. Feedback is collected through various channels, including the active Discord community, Steam reviews, and input from content creators and the media. Additionally, a QA company assists in tracking and replicating issues to ensure efficient resolution.
