Medieval Kingdom Sim Norland is Launching Next Week on Steam

Hooded Horse has announced that Norland, a medieval kingdom simulation, will be released on July 18, 2024. Originally announced for a May launch, this delay has allowed developer Long Jaunt to add new features and celebrate reaching 500,000 wishlists on Steam.

Norland places players in the role of leading a noble family navigating the trials of a class-divided society. Whether it’s betrayals and personal conflicts, battles with neighboring kingdoms or fights with wandering hordes, or resolving complex diplomatic matters, Norland’s fictional medieval setting is rife with challenges to overcome.

The extra development time will bring several new features to Norland:

  • Improved world map trade through negotiations with neighboring rulers.
  • Provincial ecology, where soil erosion, limited raw materials, and market saturation will require players to seek resources beyond their borders.
  • New local map mechanics such as patrolling, improved character reactions, and market speculation.
  • Aging of the ruling family, adding a new layer of realism.
  • Prophecies and mid-game disasters.
