Developer Zxima and publisher Kodansha Creators’ Lab have announced that MOCHI-O, a playful “doomsday land defense adventure”, will launch on PC via Steam on Monday, January 19, 2026. The game puts a strange but charming twist on world-ending danger by turning an adorable hamster into the last line of defense against an alien invasion.

Aliens are attacking, cities are falling, and humanity is close to defeat. In the middle of this chaos stands MOCHI-O, a tiny pet with unbelievable power. Players act as MOCHI-O’s caretaker, guiding the hamster during battles and aiming it directly at incoming enemies. The gameplay mixes tower defense planning with hands-on shooting, making every fight feel active instead of watching from a distance.

Taking care of MOCHI-O is just as important as fighting. Between attacks, you can pet, praise, and comfort the hamster, helping it stay happy and strong. You can also decorate MOCHI-O’s room and talk with other survivors, creating calm moments that balance the action. The better MOCHI-O is treated, the stronger it becomes in combat, unlocking new upgrades and stronger attacks.

Progress in the game comes from seeds dropped by defeated enemies and these seeds act as experience points that can be used to improve MOCHI-O’s abilities, such as attack speed, range, and critical hits. This system allows you to shape different playstyles, whether you prefer fast attacks, wide coverage, or powerful single shots.
