Nintendo has announced a new Indie World Showcase that will air on August 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM CEST. The digital event will run for 15 minutes and feature new reveals and updates on indie games coming to both the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2.
This showcase is a significant event, especially since the Switch 2 was just launched in March 2025. With Nintendo’s official sales data showing that the new console sold 2.4 million units in its first month, the company is clearly looking to build a strong library of games for its new hardware early on.
The event follows the usual pattern of Indie World Showcases, which are designed to shine a light on smaller, creative titles from independent developers. The timing is crucial for the Switch 2, which is projected to sell 15 million units by March 2026 and is on track to surpass the lifetime sales of the Wii U.
While the new console has seen strong first-party support from games like Mario Kart World, which has been purchased by an impressive 96.7% of Switch 2 owners, indie games will be key to diversifying its appeal and attracting a wider range of players.
