Grinding Gear Games has officially announced Path of Exile 2: Fate of the Vaal, the action RPG’s upcoming seasonal league, through a cinematic teaser. The announcement marks the next major step in the game’s evolving content roadmap and sets the stage for a deeper exploration of one of the series’ most iconic civilizations.
The new league arrives alongside the 0.4.0 content update, titled Last of the Druids. Following the studio’s established pattern, such as pairing The Third Edict expansion with its corresponding league, this update is expected to land in early December 2025. Fate of the Vaal will take over from the ongoing Rise of the Abyssal league, which has been running for three months as of mid-November.
As its name suggests, the league centers on the lore of the ancient Vaal, an empire long associated with blood magic, immortality rituals, and reality-shattering catastrophes. At the heart of their mythology stands Atziri, the notorious Queen of the Vaal, whose obsessive pursuit of eternal perfection brought ruin to her people.
A full reveal of the league’s gameplay and features is scheduled for a livestream on December 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM PST / 10:00 PM CET, with regional release times varying by platform. Path of Exile 2 can be found on PC via Steam.
