City-Builder Pax Augusta Finally Has a Release Date, Available on Steam in April

Publisher Senatis and developer Roger Gassmann have announced that their city-builder Pax Augusta is coming to PC via Steam on April 17th. Furthermore, a demo version of the game will be available on Steam from now until early April. Pax Augusta invites players to take on the role of an ambitious governor who must build impressive city districts, care for the well-being of citizens, develop trade, and erect magnificent monuments that will last for centuries.

One of the most striking features of Pax Augusta is its historical authenticity. The architecture in the game is based on real-life models of buildings, some of which are only visible today as ruins. This attention to detail extends to the campaign mode, which is inspired by the works of the Roman historian Tacitus. For those who prefer freedom, a sandbox mode is also available, where it is possible to build the perfect Roman city without any limitations.

In Pax Augusta, structures like residential quarters, markets, temples, forums, and baths play a key role in the city’s development. As the city grows from a small settlement to a vibrant metropolis, you must manage the import and export of goods, monitor the needs of citizens, and deal with the shifting demands of Emperors, whose influences can be benevolent, wasteful, or unpredictable. Every decision has consequences, and natural disasters, disease, and political power games are just some of the challenges players will have to face.

Roger Gassmann, the game’s developer, emphasizes that Pax Augusta was born from his love for classics like the Caesar series and Imperator: Rome: “Looking for more games like those, I decided to make my own. I can’t wait for the game’s release on April 17th and want to thank the community for their support, especially the historians and architects whose comments were invaluable in creating the most authentic experience possible.”
