A new open-source dashboard for Minerva Archive initiative is giving the gaming community a real-time look at one of the largest preservation efforts currently underway. The tool tracks progress in backing up the enormous Myrient archive, an online repository that has hosted hundreds of terabytes of video game files.
Myrient originally functioned as a massive public repository containing roughly 385–390 terabytes of ROMs, ISOs, and other game data gathered from respected preservation projects such as Redump and No-Intro. However, its operator recently confirmed that the site will shut down on March 31, 2026, citing unsustainable server and hardware costs. The announcement quickly sparked action across the preservation community, which organized a large-scale effort under the Minerva Archive initiative to mirror and secure the entire dataset before it disappears.
Volunteers have already achieved a major milestone by completing a full verified backup of the archive. Now, the newly released dashboard provides a clear view of how the data is being redistributed across multiple servers and prepared for long-term sharing. The interface displays key statistics such as the total amount of data secured, along with active servers, download speeds, and the number of collections already mirrored. It also breaks down progress across hosting locations and shows detailed progress bars for individual collections, many of which are already fully preserved.
Beyond simply displaying numbers, the dashboard is designed as a lightweight static website that runs entirely in the browser, offering a fast and mobile-friendly way to monitor the project. It also includes tools for browsing the archive’s structure and viewing which servers are handling specific datasets, making it easier for volunteers and observers to follow the effort as it evolves.
