Independent developer Death Kumiai and publisher Flashlight Games have announced that Annihilated, their dark fantasy roguelite deckbuilding RPG, has been delayed from its planned July 22 release to Q4 2026 on Steam. The extra development time will be used to improve the game’s overall quality, combat balance, and player experience.

According to the publisher, development is in its final stages, but the team decided more time was needed for “final adjustments,” including refining the game’s feel and fine-tuning battles before launch.

The developers also shared a message explaining that the game has already passed Steam’s review process and could technically be released on schedule. However, they believe rushing to launch would compromise the final experience: “The game has already passed Steam’s review process, and we absolutely could finish bug-checking and ship the game by July 22… But that’s not the launch this game deserves.”

Instead of releasing immediately, the team wants additional time to repeatedly play through the game and polish its balance. An updated demo is also planned during the delay, giving players another opportunity to provide feedback before release.

Annihilated is a narrative-driven roguelite dungeon crawler that blends cute character designs with dark horror themes. Players explore a cursed dungeon by borrowing the powers of fallen heroes, choosing one of four distinct story routes, each revealing different aspects of the game’s mystery.
