Order 13 is a horror game that blends the everyday stress of working in a warehouse with tense survival horror atmosphere. Developed by Cybernetic Walrus, it puts you in the role of a night-shift warehouse worker who must fulfill orders while avoiding monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows. With its eerie atmosphere, innovative mechanics, and a surprising focus on caring for your feline friend, Order 13 provides a unique and unforgettable experience. Although it contains some repetitive elements, the game is short but extremely interesting, perfect for horror fans.

As you strive to fulfill increasingly demanding orders, you notice strange beings hiding in the dark. The game doesn’t rely on a complex story but draws you into its disturbing atmosphere. The tension rises as you explore the warehouse and its underground while uncovering the horrors that await you. The deeper you venture into the warehouse, the scarier it becomes.

Anyone Who Has Worked in a Warehouse Knows the Courage It Requires

Your main task is to fulfill orders by locating packages in the warehouse and delivering them to the office. The warehouse is divided into sections marked with letters from A to Z and rows from 1 to 3, which initially makes navigation easier. However, as the nights pass, the orders become more demanding, and you will have to upgrade your equipment to keep up. The intentionally repetitive nature of the job mimics the monotony of real warehouse work, but it can sometimes feel tedious. Additionally, for some reason, you stop receiving orders in the first row, which is a bit disappointing.

The horror elements are where Order 13 truly shines. The warehouse is inhabited by terrifying creatures that stalk you while you work. Some crawl on the floor, while others rely on sudden jump scares or eerie sounds to keep you on the edge of panic. One particular creature relentlessly pursues you through the warehouse, and its dark gurgling and growling further amplify the tension. You have no weapon for defense; your only options are to hide or run away.

The basement level brings an additional layer of challenge. Unlike the main warehouse, the basement is a true labyrinth with no clear layout, making every turn uncertain and spooky. This zone carries a higher risk but simultaneously offers more valuable rewards, thus adding variety to the gameplay. After returning to the office, you will have to package the collected items. This mini-game involves filling boxes with protective material, sealing them with tape, and labeling them with stickers..

Packaging Items Could Have Been a Bit More Varied

Although it’s an enjoyable addition, the lack of diverse packaging types makes this part of the game somewhat repetitive over time. One of the game’s most unique features is your feline companion. Instead of a classic health bar, you have a “kitty gauge” that tracks your cat’s happiness level. If it drops too low, the cat will leave the office and become prey to the creatures outside. You can upgrade its living space with toys, food, and other items to keep it happy.

Similarly, as mentioned earlier, you can also upgrade your equipment. Since you have to memorize codes on order lists, you can make your job easier by acquiring a scanner. To carry more items, especially as it’s possible to handle multiple orders at once, you can equip a backpack. There is also a flashlight, which proved to be extremely useful, as it gets extremely dark later in the game. There is plenty of room for experimenting with equipment.

I developed my own strategy: since there are no monsters on the first day, the goal is to fulfill as many orders in advance as possible to make later days easier. However, the game already has built-in balance. The only way to earn money is by finishing the day, so you cannot linger indefinitely on one day. Since the kitty gauge drops quickly, speed is key to survival in this game.

It’s Cheap, Scary, and Fun – What More Could You Ask For?

Visually, Order 13 successfully creates an eerie and immersive atmosphere. The warehouse is dark and claustrophobic, with subdued lighting and detailed environments that feel realistic. The monsters are excellently designed, with disturbing animations and sounds that make them genuinely frightening. The in-game sounds are also brilliantly executed; the growls, creaks, and sudden loud noises keep you in constant tension, while the lack of music further amplifies the feeling of unease. Instead of relying on classic jump scare tricks, the game uses environmental sounds and the presence of monsters to make the horror feel organic, not cheap.

If you are a fan of horror games or are looking for something different, Order 13 is definitely worth a try. It’s a short but intense experience that delivers genuine scares and a unique twist on the survival horror genre. Plus, there are multiple cat breeds. Just be prepared for a few repetitive moments, because after all, a night shift in a warehouse full of monsters is anything but easy.
